Oh, Hollywood! No. Hypnosis cannot make you do anything you don't want to do. That's a common misconception and a Hollywood fabrication. If it were true everyone who understands hypnosis would be filthy rich! Right?!
Hypnotherapy is not stage hypnosis. There is a trick to stage hypnosis (shocker), and I tell my clients exactly how it's done!
Yes. Hypnosis is a theta brain wave state everyone goes in and out of naturally every day. Two examples are: when you first wake up in the morning and just before you fall asleep at night.
I hear this a lot. That just means the hypnotist wasn't speaking to your subconscious mind in the manner in which it learns. Hypnosis is not "one size fits all". First, we need to find your suggestibility, aka how your individual mind takes in information, and then we speak to it in that way.
You can! You have a 50% chance of it succeeding for you. It all depends on if the hypnotist is speaking in the manner in which your individual mind takes in information. We all learn differently, and it's important to speak to the subconscious mind in the particular manner in which it learns. Also, those videos are, of course, going to be more generalized, so it may or may not be what you need to help with a particular challenge.
Sessions can be broken down into two parts, the cognitive part and the hypnosis. During the cognitive part, we discuss what you want out of the session. Then, in hypnosis, what you want is put into your subconscious mind. I compare it to venting to a friend, and then doing a guided meditation.
Everyone experiences hypnosis differently. Even the same individual can experience hypnosis differently from day to day. Some people don't even feel like they have been hypnotized, while others don't recall the hypnotic part of the session, but most lie somewhere in between, remembering parts of it, and kind of drifting off during others.
You have the option of having the hypnotic part of every session recorded at no additional charge. You will then have this recording to use whenever you choose forevermore.
This is a common misconception. Hypnosis is not a passive experience. It's not magic. It's science. I cannot make you do anything you don't want to do. It is however, a very efficient way to make changes in our life, because we are dealing directly with our subconscious which is our mental programming.
It varies from person to person and depends on the specific challenge, how long you've had this challenge and how motivated you are to achieve your goal. This is the perfect topic to discuss in your consultation.
I graduated with honors from the only hypnotherapy school that is accredited by the Department of Education, The Hypnosis Motivation Institute in Tarzana, California, am a member of the American Hypnosis Association and the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.
That's normal! Book a FREE phone consultation. I can answer any questions you have, you can meet me, and decide for yourself whenever you're ready. I promise I'm not scary!
Hypnosis is a very powerful tool that can treat a vast array of issues and conditions quickly with a 93% success rate. What else can you say that about? Not much, right?
Hypnosis is a theta brain wave state that we naturally go in and out of throughout our day. Ever been driving on "auto pilot" and arrive at your destination, but not remember the drive? You know the state you are in just before you fall asleep or upon waking, when you aren't asleep, but not quite really awake? That is the state of hypnosis. See? We've all been there.
Hypnosis is about using that natural state to tap into the power of your own subconscious mind, to achieve your self-improvement goals. I like to call it, "a short cut to change". When the teacher told you to study right before bed, so you'll remember what you learned for the test the next day, she was on to something! Many people think of hypnosis only for use with habits such as smoking cessation. While it certainly is good for that, the power of the mind has no limits for personal application.
As a Certified Hypnotherapist, I work with an almost endless array of personal achievement goals. In some cases, a medical referral may be required for issues of pain management, and other medical related issues. If you are working with another counseling professional already, or have goals beyond personal self-improvement, then I may ask for a referral from the appropriate psychology professional.
It would be nearly impossible to list every possible application for hypnosis, but this list can give you a general idea of some of the possible applications.
